Wrestler Aman Sehrawat Secures Bronze Medal at Paris Games

Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat clinched the bronze medal in the men’s 57kg freestyle category at the Paris Olympics on Friday, continuing a proud tradition of success in wrestling for India. Sehrawat defeated Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz with a commanding score of 13-5 in the bronze-medal bout.

This victory adds to India’s tally at the Games, which now includes five bronze medals and one silver, earned by javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra on Thursday. Sehrawat’s performance extends India’s streak of wrestling medals, a tradition that began with Sushil Kumar’s bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Earlier in the tournament, Sehrawat faced a tough challenge in the semifinals, where he was bested by Japan’s top-seed Rei Higuchi. However, he bounced back strongly in the bronze-medal match, demonstrating resilience and skill to secure his place on the podium.

India’s continued success in wrestling underscores the sport’s significance and the nation’s commitment to excellence in the arena.
