Satish Sharma, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, today directed the Heads of Department (HoDs) of Youth Services and Sports to form dedicated teams of officers to welcome and felicitate the medal-winning athletes and teams from Jammu and Kashmir upon their arrival in the Union Territory (UT) after participating in national and international tournaments.
Encouraging Sports Excellence
As per the circular issued, the initiative is designed to inspire athletes to continue pursuing sports and motivate them to strive for excellence in their respective fields. The Ministry aims to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of these athletes, thereby fostering a culture of sportsmanship and recognition within the UT.
Publicizing Achievements and Felicitation Ceremonies
The circular also emphasizes that wide publicity should be given to the accomplishments of these sports personalities. Felicitation ceremonies may be organized at key locations such as railway stations, airports, bus stands, or any other entry points where the players or teams arrive. These public celebrations of success are expected to encourage not only the athletes but also others to actively engage in sports and aim for high levels of achievement.
Commitment to Sports Recognition
This initiative highlights the government’s and the Sports Minister’s commitment to recognizing the hard work and success of athletes in Jammu and Kashmir. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of supporting and honoring those who bring pride to the region through their achievements in sports.
