KANPUR, Sep 30: Ravindra Jadeja, India’s premier all-rounder, etched his name in history by becoming the seventh Indian cricketer to claim 300 Test wickets. The milestone was reached on Monday during the second Test against Bangladesh when Jadeja dismissed Khaled Mahmud via a caught and bowled on the fourth day of play.
The dismissal ended Bangladesh’s first innings, with the visitors being bowled out for 233 shortly after lunch. Jadeja’s achievement adds another feather to his illustrious career, as he joins an elite group of Indian bowlers who have surpassed the 300-wicket mark in Test cricket.
Other Indian bowlers who have accomplished this feat include Anil Kumble (619 wickets), R Ashwin (524), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (417), Ishant Sharma (311), and Zaheer Khan (311).
Jadeja, playing his 74th Test, also became the second quickest player to complete the double of 300 wickets and 3000 runs in Test cricket, trailing only behind England legend Ian Botham.
