Rajinder Singh Tara, the newly appointed Director General of the Youth Services and Sports Department (YSS) J&K, convened his inaugural meeting with the District Youth Services and Sports Officers (DYSSOs) at the Sports Complex, Wazirbagh today. The comprehensive meeting, which extended throughout the day, saw active participation from DYSSOs of both divisions, with those from the Jammu division joining via virtual conference. The gathering also included Joint Directors, the Deputy Director Central, and Section Incharges from various sections of the Directorate.
The session commenced with Tara reviewing progress reports on ongoing sports development projects and activities. He addressed challenges encountered by field officers in their districts and issued directives for the prompt completion of all developmental works. Emphasizing effective monitoring, Tara underscored the importance of meeting project milestones.
In his address, Tara praised the field staff for their efforts in identifying and nurturing top sports talent. He highlighted the critical role of enhancing youth participation in sports, noting that it contributes significantly to their physical and mental well-being and helps divert them from negative influences.
Addressing service and promotion-related concerns raised by the officers, Tara assured that their genuine issues would be addressed with urgency and priority.
In a separate session with District Publicity Coordinators (DPCs), Tara underscored the need for widespread publicity of departmental activities. The DPCs presented innovative ideas aimed at increasing the visibility of sports initiatives across both divisions.
Concluding the meeting, Tara called for a united effort in celebrating the upcoming National Sports Day/Week with enthusiasm. He emphasized that National Sports Day is crucial for fostering a robust sports culture, promoting regular exercise, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among all citizens.
The meeting also covered preparations for the forthcoming National Youth Festival. Tara stressed the significance of this event in showcasing youth sports talent and creativity. He encouraged officers to ensure inclusivity and provide opportunities for young people from all backgrounds to participate.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding arrangements for an upcoming marathon event. Tara highlighted the importance of such events in promoting physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
