Jammu, October 18 – Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has allocated portfolios to the newly inducted ministers in Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s cabinet. The decision, made on the advice of the Chief Minister, was formalized through an official order issued on Friday.
According to the order, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary will oversee key departments, including Public Works (R&B), Industries and Commerce, Mining, Labour and Employment, and Skill Development.
The only woman in the cabinet, Sakeena Masood (Itoo), has been entrusted with the significant ministries of Health and Medical Education, School Education, Higher Education, and Social Welfare. She previously served as the Social Welfare Minister during Abdullah’s first tenure as Chief Minister in the former state.
Javed Ahmed Rana will head the departments of Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs. Javid Ahmad Dar has been assigned the Agriculture Production, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election portfolios.
Satish Sharma will manage a wide range of departments, including Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, and ARI and Trainings.
The order also stated that any departments not specifically allocated to other ministers would remain under the charge of the Chief Minister.
