Jamshedpur, August 27 — The Indian Navy has successfully recovered the wreckage of the missing Cessna-152 aircraft from the Chandil dam in Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharswan district, an official confirmed on Tuesday.
The aircraft, which went missing after taking off from Sonari Aerodrome in Jamshedpur on August 20, was located by the Navy team on Monday. Search operations, which commenced around 10 am, involved retrieving the wreckage from a depth of 15-18 meters using a balloon.
The aircraft, operated by private aviation company Alchemist Aviation Private Limited, crashed into the reservoir shortly after departure. The bodies of the pilot, Capt Jeet Satru, and trainee pilot, Subrodeep Dutta, were recovered by an NDRF team on Thursday.
The successful recovery of the wreckage marks a significant development in the investigation into the crash.
