India highlighted the significance of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to foster better ties with China during extensive talks between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing.
The discussions, held under the Special Representatives (SRs) framework, aimed to address the vexed boundary question between the two nations.
“The SRs reiterated the importance of maintaining a political perspective of the overall bilateral relationship while working toward a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable framework for resolving the boundary issue,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
Peace as a Pillar for Progress
Both leaders underscored the necessity of preserving peace and tranquillity in border areas to ensure the normal progression of India-China bilateral relations.
“They emphasised the need to create peaceful conditions on the ground so that border issues do not impede the overall development of bilateral ties,” the MEA highlighted.
Lessons from the Past
Reflecting on the events of 2020, Doval and Wang discussed measures to maintain stability along the LAC and advance effective border management.
The MEA noted, “They decided to use, coordinate, and guide the relevant diplomatic and military mechanisms to achieve this objective.”
The dialogue between the two Special Representatives marked a significant step in addressing challenges and ensuring constructive engagement between India and China.
