Highlighting the significance of spreading awareness about various labour welfare schemes implemented by the Government, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary emphasized the importance of ensuring these benefits reach the targeted population. He was speaking at a meeting convened to review the functioning of the Labour Department.
The meeting was attended by Labour Commissioner Charandeep Singh, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Assistant Labour Commissioners of Jammu division, and other key officers.
Promoting Awareness Through Camps
The Deputy Chief Minister urged officers to regularly organize awareness camps across Jammu division. He stressed the need for these camps to be inclusive and well-structured to ensure maximum participation from the stakeholders. The camps should not only educate people about the benefits of the various labour welfare schemes but also guide them on the correct procedures to avail of these benefits.
Choudhary emphasized that these efforts would bridge the information gap and help ensure that the right people benefit from the Government’s initiatives.
Focus on Inspections and Compliance
Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister directed officers to conduct regular inspections of business establishments and ongoing mega projects to ensure that workers’ welfare is prioritized. He warned against any laxity in addressing violations, underscoring the importance of safeguarding workers’ rights.
He further instructed officials to regularly inspect Industrial Estates to gather feedback on production units, focusing on the working conditions and facilities provided to employees. The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the importance of objective reporting to identify and rectify any shortcomings that may be present.
Addressing Public Grievances
Earlier in the day, Surinder Kumar Choudhary met with several deputations from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir. These deputations raised concerns about various issues and sought immediate redressal. The Deputy Chief Minister assured them that the Government would ensure the time-bound resolution of their issues, reinforcing the commitment to public service.
The meeting concluded with a renewed focus on improving labour welfare, ensuring compliance with regulations, and making sure that the benefits of government schemes are effectively disseminated to those in need.
