RAJOURI/JAMMU, Oct 29: In response to a recent surge in terror attacks, the Indian Army has ramped up its surveillance and patrolling efforts in the dense forest regions of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri and Poonch districts. Officials report that seven attacks in the past two weeks have led to 13 fatalities, including two soldiers, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures.
To combat this rising threat, the Army is implementing an aggressive area domination strategy throughout Jammu and Kashmir. This approach includes regular Area Domination Patrols, speculative Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs), and intelligence-driven operations aimed at monitoring terrorist movements along the Line of Control (LoC) and within the hinterlands.
Equipped with advanced drones, quadcopters, and modern surveillance technologies, Army units are actively scanning areas along the LoC to detect any suspicious activity and thwart potential cross-border infiltration attempts. In the Rajouri and Poonch districts, troops from the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles are conducting frequent and proactive search operations, particularly in the dense forests known for harboring terrorist elements.
The Army is employing a combination of technical surveillance methods and on-ground intelligence to monitor key forested areas, particularly those with a recent history of terrorist incidents. To further bolster security, patrolling in these forest regions has been intensified, ensuring that all potential escape routes for terrorists are covered.
In preparation for ongoing challenges, the Indian Army is also conducting specialized training sessions and firing practice camps for personnel deployed in the hinterlands of Rajouri and Poonch. The security landscape in Jammu and Kashmir has seen heightened vigilance over recent months, driven by a series of terror strikes. An ongoing operation in the Akhnoor area has already resulted in the elimination of three terrorists.
To enhance the operational readiness and firing capabilities of its personnel, the Army is organizing regular training capsules tailored to improve skills for those on hinterland duties. These training sessions take place in challenging environments, allowing troops to conduct anti-terror operations while honing their skills.
During these training exercises, Army personnel receive instruction in the use of various firearms, including both small arms like pistols and automatic weapons such as AK rifles. They practice firing at static and moving targets, ensuring they are well-prepared for any engagement. Additionally, troops undergo training in Quick Action tactics following terrorist incidents, which involve the utilization of specialized bulletproof vehicles for rapid response.
The comprehensive strategy reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining security and countering terrorism effectively in Jammu and Kashmir. As tensions persist, the enhanced surveillance and training initiatives are vital components of ensuring the safety of the region’s citizens and safeguarding national interests.
