All J&K State Chess Tournament Concludes with Stellar Performances at Srinagar Sports Club

The All J&K State Chess Tournament, held from August 24 to 26, 2024, at the Srinagar Sports Club, concluded with a display of remarkable talent across various age groups. The event, organized by the All J&K State Chess Association and sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council and the All India Chess Federation, featured six competitive categories: U13 Boys, U13 Girls, U15 Boys, U15 Girls, U19 Boys, and U19 Girls.

The tournament showcased outstanding performances from young chess enthusiasts:

U13 Boys: Hamzah Malik clinched the top position, followed by Rikvik Gandotra and Ahmed Gowhar.
U13 Girls: Fatima secured first place, with Maryara Sharma and Fatima ul Zohra completing the top three.
U15 Boys: Hamzah Malik continued his impressive form, with Arush Sharma and Ehan Sajad also achieving top finishes.
U15 Girls: Fatima emerged victorious again, with Areeba Shabir and Srujanika Gupta among the top performers.
U19 Boys: Mohammad Aayan Khan was the top player, while Manasvi Gupta led the U19 Girls category.
The top two players in the U13 categories and the top fourteen players in the U15 and U19 categories will represent J&K UT at the upcoming national championships.

The event was overseen by the Manager of the Indoor Sports Complex, with Abdul Rashid Wani and Comrade Parvez managing the proceedings. The tournament concluded with a vote of thanks by Arshid Ahmad, General Secretary of the All J&K Chess Association, who acknowledged the efforts of everyone involved in making the event a success.
