PM Modi Advocates “Reduce, Reuse, Recharge, Recycle” Mantra for Water Conservation at Surat Event

Surat, September 6, 2024 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking virtually, emphasized the cultural significance of water and environmental conservation in India during the launch of the ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ initiative in Surat. The program aims to bolster community engagement in water conservation efforts.

In his address, Modi underscored the importance of adopting the “reduce, reuse, recharge, and recycle” mantra to address the pressing issue of water scarcity. He highlighted the need for innovative techniques and advanced technology to effectively conserve water resources.

“India has only four percent of the world’s freshwater resources, and many regions are grappling with severe water crises,” Modi remarked. He also referenced recent unprecedented rainfall events in various parts of the country, illustrating the urgent need for improved water management practices.

The ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari’ initiative is part of the broader “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain” campaign. This initiative aims to foster collaborative water management strategies and ensure sustainable water security for the future.

Modi reiterated that water and environmental conservation are deeply embedded in India’s cultural consciousness and called on citizens to actively participate in these efforts to safeguard the country’s water resources.
