Congress Unveils Second List of 23 Candidates for Maharashtra Assembly Polls

New Delhi, Oct 26 — The Congress party announced its second list of 23 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled for November 10. This announcement followed a meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee, where candidate names were deliberated.

With this second list, the Congress has now revealed a total of 71 candidates, having previously declared 48 nominees in its first list. Notably, the first list included 25 incumbent MLAs who were retained as candidates.

The Congress has reassured its supporters that there are no internal disputes within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, with a final seat-sharing agreement expected to be released later today. Party leader Ramesh Chennithala emphasized the unity of the MVA, stating, “We will fight together to realize the dreams of the people of Maharashtra. We are confident that the MVA will form the government. People are ready to throw out this corrupt government.”

PCC chief Nana Patole expressed optimism, predicting that the MVA would outperform its previous Lok Sabha election results and secure a majority in the Assembly. “We, the MVA, are all set to sweep the upcoming assembly elections,” said Venugopal in a post on X, sharing moments from the CEC meeting.

In its first candidate list, the Congress fielded notable figures such as Nana Patole from Sakoli, former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan from Karad South, and outgoing Assembly Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar from Brahmapuri.
