Thane, Oct 19 – Renowned choreographer Remo D’Souza, his wife Lizelle, and five others have been booked in a cheating case involving ₹11.96 crore, according to police in Maharashtra’s Thane district.
The case, registered on October 16 at Mira Road police station, is based on a complaint filed by a 26-year-old dancer. The complainant alleges that between 2018 and July 2024, he and his dance troupe were deceived by the accused, who falsely claimed ownership of their group and wrongfully claimed prize money worth ₹11.96 crore won during a television competition.
In addition to D’Souza and his wife, the other individuals implicated include Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, Frame Production Company, Vinod Raut, and a police officer, Ramesh Gupta. They are being charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 465 (forgery) and 420 (cheating).
