Jalandhar, Oct 7: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday conducted raids at multiple locations in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Gurugram, and Delhi in connection with a land “fraud” case involving Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora and others, according to official sources.
Approximately 16-17 premises were searched, including the Ludhiana residence of the 61-year-old MP and his property in Gurugram. Locations linked to real estate businessman Hemant Sood and another individual, Chandra Shekhar Agrawal, in Jalandhar were also among the raided sites.
Sanjeev Arora, responding to the raids, expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with the authorities. “I am a law-abiding citizen, and I am not exactly sure about the reason for this search operation. However, I will cooperate fully with the agencies and ensure all their queries are answered,” Arora posted on social media platform X.
Meanwhile, AAP leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia accused the central government of using the raids to target their party. In a post on X, Sisodia claimed that these actions were an attempt to “break” AAP but emphasized that their members would not be intimidated, sold, or deterred.
The raids, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), are reportedly linked to allegations of illegal transfer of an industrial plot by Arora to his company’s name, sources said. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
